How do I integrate a third-party lead source with Delfa AI?
Last updated: October 19, 2026
Context
If you are a lead source or patient recruitment partner looking to send patient leads into the Delfa platform, you can do so via Delfa's API. This article walks through the steps required to set up and complete the integration successfully.
Answer
To integrate your platform with Delfa and begin pushing patient leads, follow the steps below:
Review the API documentation.
Delfa's API documentation is available at https://api.delfa.ai/docs. Reach out to the Delfa team to obtain your credentials and access token.
Obtain an API key.
Contact the Delfa team to request an API key specific to your integration. This will be shared securely with your team.
Send a test patient.
Once your integration is set up, send a test patient record through the API so the Delfa team can confirm it has been received correctly on their end.
Set the
sourceparameter. When creating a patient study assignment, make sure to set the
sourceparameter to your organization's name (e.g.,"YourOrganizationName"). Always set it, as it helps Delfa identify where leads are coming from. Any non-empty value is acceptable. You must also select at least one site study assignment.Enroll patients into the AI cadence.
After creating the patient study assignment, enroll the patient into the appropriate AI cadence using the endpoint:
POST /cadences/{cadence_id}/executeThe cadence ID for your specific study will be provided by the Delfa team.
Alternative approach: You can skip the explicit patient study assignment step entirely. The cadence execution endpoint can handle study assignment creation automatically. To do this, set the
study_assignment_sourceparameter on the cadence POST request to your organization's name. This tells the endpoint to create any necessary patient study assignments as part of the cadence execution. If a study runs at more than one site, also tell the endpoint which site to use with
site_study_assignment_ids_by_study_id. Otherwise the request is rejected. The Delfa team can give you the IDs for each site.Ensure correct date of birth (DOB) formatting.
A common issue when pushing patients is incorrect DOB formatting, which will cause Delfa to reject POST requests. Send the DOB as a date in
YYYY-MM-DDformat (for example,1980-04-23). Invalid dates are rejected with "Date of birth must be a valid date".Confirm successful integration.
After sending a test fire with the source parameter and cadence enrollment in place, confirm with the Delfa team that the patient data has been received correctly. Once confirmed, you can begin sending live patient leads.
