Why do AI-assigned phone numbers include a +1 country code prefix?

Last updated: August 13, 2026

Context

When the AI assigns phone numbers to patients, those numbers may appear with a +1 country code prefix (e.g., +16145026170). This formatting can cause issues with third-party systems (such as RealTime) that do not accept numbers in this format, preventing patients from verifying their phone numbers or completing text message opt-in processes.

Answer

There is a setting available to disable the country code prefix so that phone numbers are pushed without the +1 prefix. This ensures compatibility with external systems that require standard 10-digit number formatting.

To have the country code prefix removed from AI-assigned phone numbers, please contact our support team and request that the country code setting be turned off for your account. Once disabled, any subsequent data pushes will send phone numbers without the country code prefix.

If you are also experiencing issues with the AI voicemail reading back an incomplete phone number, this may be a related formatting issue. Please reach out to our support team and provide a sample call recording so the issue can be investigated and corrected.
