What phone numbers are used for outbound calls, SMS, and warm transfers?
Last updated: October 19, 2026
Context
When working with our AI-assisted calling and warm transfer workflows, it's helpful to know which phone numbers are used for different purposes. This allows you to correctly label incoming numbers in your phone system (e.g., RingCentral), register numbers with branding platforms (e.g., Numeracle), and configure call routing rules appropriately.
Answer
Each organization has its own dedicated phone numbers, which fall into three categories:
Agent phone numbers — used for AI agent outbound communications (cadences, automated calls and SMS).
Human phone numbers — used for recruiter outbound communications (Inbox, manual calls and SMS).
Warm transfer numbers — used when the AI agent connects a patient to your team.
Numbers can be assigned per site. To see which numbers your organization uses, or to change them, contact your Delfa representative.
For warm transfers, the number your team sees depends on how your transfer is set up. Your Delfa representative can confirm it. If you want to restrict your warm transfer lines to only accept incoming transfers, allow calls only from your organization's agent phone numbers.
If you use a platform like RingCentral, you can use its org-wide number labeling feature to tag your Delfa numbers, helping your team quickly identify the source of incoming transfers and avoid confusion.
